Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists is looking for a Lead Diagnostic & Pharmacy Technician who takes ownership of the systems that keep a specialty hospital running-and brings the technical depth to back it up.

Lead Diagnostic & Pharmacy Technician - Full Time Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists in Williston, VT
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Laboratory & Diagnostics
Serve as the primary point of contact for diagnostic equipment troubleshooting and technical support
Manage the ultrasound schedule, acting as liaison between radiologists and internists; facilitate ultrasounds and echocardiograms occurring outside of internal medicine service hours
Assist specialty departments and ER with diagnostics including radiographs, phlebotomy, in-house lab work, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and digital cytology on an as-needed basis
Support specialty departments and ER with external reference lab submissions
Provide secondary hospital-wide support for medical equipment troubleshooting and oxygen supply concerns
Develop, maintain, and update laboratory SOPs covering equipment use and maintenance, internal diagnostics, external lab submissions, and sample handlin
Pharmacy & Inventory
Assist the Inventory/Facilities Manager with medication inventory oversight, including expiration management, inventory limit reviews, and location configuration within Cubex
Perform cycle counts and restock medications within Cubex as needed
Participate in regular controlled drug cycle counts and maintain DEA compliance documentation in the absence of the Inventory/Facilities Manager
Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory and pharmacy areas
Training & Leadership
Train new technicians and assistants on laboratory protocols, radiographs, radioiodine therapy patient care, endoscope and bronchoscope cleaning, phlebotomy and sample handling, and CT operation
Provide mentorship and serve as a day-to-day technical resource across departments
Provide coverage for Inventory/Facilities Manager duties as needed

REQUIREMENTS
3+ years of experience in a specialty or emergency veterinary setting strongly preferred
Strong working knowledge of laboratory diagnostics, imaging modalities, and sample handling protocols
Familiarity with controlled substance compliance and inventory management systems; Cubex experience a plus
Previous experience in a training, mentorship, or lead technical role preferred
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and service lines
Ability to manage competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
Must be comfortable with physical demands of the role including patient restraint, lifting, and potential exposure to radiation and hazardous materials; PPE provided and required
